EURACHEM WEEK
26-30 May 2025

Event Name:

Peleş Castle / Bran Castle Visit

Date: 28/05/2025

On Wednesday, 28th of May 2025, we propose a wonderful trip to the Prahova Valley where you will be able to visit Peles Castle, Pelisor and then Bran Castle, which is known as Dracula’s Castle.

Peleş Castle is a truly architectural Gem, being a stunning Neo-Renaissance castle nestled in the Carpathian Mountains of Sinaia, Romania. Built between 1873 and 1914, it served as the summer residence of Romania’s King Carol I.

The castle boasts over 160 rooms, richly decorated with exquisite wood carvings, stained glass, and Murano chandeliers. Peleș was one of the first castles in Europe to have electricity, central heating, and even a retractable glass ceiling.

Today, it is one of Romania’s most visited landmarks, showcasing a blend of European styles and royal history.

Bran Castle, the medieval fortress, is often linked to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, though there is no historical evidence that Vlad the Impaler lived there. Built in the 14th century, showing a gothic charm, the castle served as a strategic military fortress to defend Transylvania’s borders. With its imposing towers, narrow passageways, and eerie atmosphere, Bran Castle exudes a fairytale-like medieval charm.

In the 1920s, the castle became a beloved residence of Queen Marie of Romania, who helped restore and decorate it.

Today, it is one of Romania’s most visited landmarks, attracting tourists fascinated by both history and vampire myths.
